Preserving the Art of the Mid-Century Atlantic Sweet Parlor
Perched two blocks above the schooner moorings on Bay View Street in Camden, Maine, Harborbell Confectionery was established to safeguard the tactile, aromatic craft of classic 1960s and 1970s American coastal candy shops. Every batch begins in open hammered copper vessels over calibrated gas rings, monitored by hand with brass stem thermometers and finished on chilled stone tables.
We believe adults who grew up treasuring summer boardwalk strolls and Sunday parlor candy dishes recognize real ingredients on the very first bite. Our confectioners cook exclusively in small 12-to-22-pound kettle lots using sweet creamery butter, wild Maine lowbush blueberries, roasted whole cashews and Virginia peanuts, West Indies molasses, pure botanical mint oils, and flaky coastal sea salt.
Watching the Morning Hook Pull in Camden
Visitors strolling through Camden Harbor are welcome to pause by our front viewing window during morning kettle hours, when warm ribbons of coral raspberry, vanilla bean, and blueberry cream taffy are aerated on seasoned brass wall hooks before being twisted in fluted wax paper.
